After years of being out of black powder I have gotten back into it about a year ago. Since then I have acquired a CVA Bobcat 50, CVA Trapper 50, Jukar 45, Traditions Buckstalker 50, and as of this weekend a Pietta 1858 New Model Army Sherrif 44.

I am set up to make my own ammo and caps. I hope to be able to make my own powder by the end of the year.
Self sufficient is good!

I have already learned a lot from these groups. I can't wait to learn more!

I've been seriously thinking about making my own powder too. Welcome back to the world of black powder and white smoke

Sounds like you have indeed gotten back into it! I’ve thought about trying my hand at making my own percussion caps. What system are you using for that?
I've used the #11 Tap-O-Cap for about a year. I just have to inspect the caps before priming them. Now that I have a feel for it I have about a 5% fallout rate on the caps themselves. If you punch them too fast the forming pin with leave pinholes in the metal. Once the good ones are primed I have maybe a 1% failure. Note: the die also works well to resize factory caps for re-priming.

I just ordered the #10 kit, so I hope to have some data from it soon.

Thanks. I've been eyeballing the percussion cap makers from Sharp Shooter Rimfire Reloader at #10 Percussion Cap Maker
