Trade rifle rehab. Good show! Wish it was on Youtube.

13.5 is ok for length of pull. I think 13 is better. Maybe I am built funny. Add a coat to the mix and 13.5 starts to feel long. My favorite rifle is 13.25 and feels good without a coat.

Fixed the atrocity that was the nose .... Gonna replace the front sight later , too thin .....

Length of pull is always 13.5" to 14" if one is making a gun to sell to the general public . Thats the average working range , anything lower or longer is custom length . I'm surprised to here you , er uhm , see you type that . Im not tall and have short arms so I like a short LOP , around 13 .25" to 13.375 ( about perfect ) with 13.5" being acceptable but just on the outside limits during the winter time . 13.5" being fine in the summer , this fat boy ain't got a flannel on in the summer ! LOL ! I'm the only one I've ever known to like these shorter LOPs ....quite surprised you do too. Interesting . I like shooting AKs and the RPK stocks I like to put on them has a short LOP , around 13" and its a bit short during the summer months but exceptable but great in the dead of winter with Capote on .

I have long arms for my height, 73 inches from fingertip to fingertip. But my shoulders are a bit bulky.

Too busy to do much on this " damn ole trade gun " but ...I did finish cleaning up the buttplate area after fixing the f, k ups , made it squared up and bring it to proper LOP , inlet the tang of BP ...then made and set top nail . Set tang with modern " pine tar " , LOL ....it should all be set and strong so tomorrow I can bend down the B.P. to position and hopefully won't get a gap at the tang while doing so ....then , after nails are made , tack that sucker down

A colossal pain in the @$$ but its down . The DA that did it before made huge holes near the edge then add the fact that the LOP is reduced so there were holes that over hung on the edge of the wood , in the BP . A bit of innovation and a few temper tantrums and she's on there ......

Drilled other T.G. screw and put er in there .... I gotta put this gun In the house and get to work on priority stuff ...I have to fi a little repair work on the forearm and ....I MIGHT make new ramrod pipes , but whether I make new ones or reuse the old ones , I have to clean up the area they were cobbled into to then I have to re inlet and pin them ...after that its make a tapered ramrod and start final sanding .... Oh ! I gotta weight it ! Just over 6 pds.

This was a bite in the @$$ ! Was workin on the B.P. and such ....and when I was done I saw this ...obviously something had fallen I to the vice and miraculously stayed there , levitating until I put the stock back down into the vice and cracked it down real good . Made a helluva gouge . I didn't know if I'd get it out of there without leaving a divot in the stock.....thank God it did not .....How many times do I have to sand cr@p out of this %$#@&% buttstock ?!!

Heard about the steam thing but never tried it before ...It all came out and no divot .... Had me goin there for a minute ....geesh !

Getting on it quick after dinging helps. I let my new-to-me trade gun fall over at the Rondy right after purchase. It landed awkwardly on the cooking grate with a resulting divit. At home a couple of days later I was pleased that a soaked rag and heat gun brought it all right back up.

Didn't particularly like the ramrod piped that were on it plus the DA that assembled it buggered up the wood around them so I made some new pipes and hopefully they will cover the f$#k ups as I inlet them in the stock ....started the tapered ramrod too ...put the tip on ....start tapering it next day or two ....
