Alright everyone how in the world do you keep all your stuff organized. I’m at a loss between all the calibers, bits and pieces. Do you keep powder with each box or what you are using. Help or suggestions thank you for your time.

I have separate shooting bags and horns for each of my 3 rifles/calibers, each with tools/accessories to keep them running in the field. I have a single range box that I built that holds 3 cans of powder, and the gear to keep things going at the range for each caliber.

Organized?! What in the world is that?

Seriously though (as much as I can be😄), I have a powder horn (or two) and shooting bags for each caliber or gun. Each bag contains what I need for a day of shooting or hunting such as balls, patches or wadding, caps or flints, and a few small tools. In other words, just the bare minimum.

Shot for the smoothbores is carried in an old horn.

And a shooting bag isn’t the same as a possibles bag which carries a pbj, water bottle, toilet paper, football tickets, etc. All the stuff that doesn’t need to be in the shooting bag.

Then there’s a range box which I use when working up a load for a new gun such as adjustable measures, different sizes of powder, different sizes of balls and projectiles, note pad and pencil and such.

After that is a big plastic tackle box which holds a lot of extra (and possibly unnecessary) muzzleloader stuff.

There’s a cabinet in the house that holds some more (and possibly unnecessary) muzzleloader stuff. Muzzleloading books are in a stand by the recliner.

And then,,,,in the garage is another cabinet and some more boxes of extra (and possibly unnecessary) muzzleloader stuff.

(Please don’t tell anyone, but there’s also a container for a muzzleloader made after 1865 that we can’t discuss here. 🤫)

I’m getting there it seems way more stuff than I probably need.

I use 1 pouch for all 50 calibers.
I use a separate pouch for the 62 caliber.
All small items are kept in a bolt box I bought from Lowe's for $20.00.

Let me commiserate: I am very sloppy, don't know where most things are [unless they're the size of my car]. Add to that, we have a part-time housekeeper who knows I'm sloppy, so she tries to help, She does not think as I do, nor treasure the things I do. Between us and the fact that my loving wife is a hoarder .... get the picture  :horseback: ;)

I agree. I MUST keep it simple or I am the poster child for "Hot Mess in The Woods", or "Hot Mess at The Range".

I bag for each rifle of different caliber, OR different ignition. So I have a bag for my .54 flinters, and another for my .54 caplock. A bag for my .40 rifle, one for my .50 flintlock rifle, and another for my 20 gauge flintlock fowler, and another for my 20 gauge caplock SxS. I made them all.

One horn of 3Fg for main charge and for priming the pans... works for everything. Only one size of powder to buy.

I use cartridges for premeasured powder and for shot for the SxS

One tiny box of stuff to keep them all clean and oiled

It can seem tedious setting up your rifles or guns like this but when it comes time to go to the range, it really reduces the problems you will have.

Lots of good ideas from the gang. One item I really think is essential (especially for us old farts that can't remember) a list.
I have a master list right in my main shooting box. Before every outting I check the list. Some days I only need part of the list, but there are just too many items to remember when one shoots the variable gun need possibilities of the muzzleloading sport.

Ha, In my younger years (no list) I went to a two day shoot and when it came to shooting the pistol, well I left the darn thing home. :dunno:

Great idea a list because I have forgotten a few things.

I use GI ammo cans. Each caliber has it's own can. The flintlocks have a separate can. Everything goes in the can except the range rod and the gun. I only shoot on the range, don't hunt any longer.
