This month I plan to visit friends who live hour north of Lexington. Other than Boonesbrough and blue licks, what is in this area for a guy to go see?? In past trips we have been to Daniel Boones grave site plus the two listed above.

So, you have been to Marthasville MO? :v

Sorry, I couldn't help myself...ok so I could, but didn't.

While not in Lexington, there is an excellent history museum in Frankfort, though it is closed on Monday.

Old Fort Harrod State Park isn't too far away.

Teh shaker Village, at Pleasant Hill is nice too.
You can take an excursion on the KY River from there too.

Here is a page listing attractions in the area. http://www.visitlex.com/whattodo/

No, went to the grave site in Frankfort. Nice pic of Daniel with his ML and a nice DOE deer on the tomb stone. Thanks for the info.

The Stephen Foster Home (Old KY Home state park)

The Bardstown museum, excellent exhibits allow half a day.

Shaker Village. Allow half a day and book dinner at their facility. Best food you will ever eat.

I have been to all three, they are worth the trip.

If you are one hour north of Lexington you are only 1/2 hour from Cinncinatti. There is an excellent museum in Cinci and an excellent aquarium in Newport, KY.

Plus there is the Cinncinatti Library. They have one of the few copies of the Draper manuscripts there. It is the most used library in the nation, I think.

If you went to Fankfort, all you got was a picture of the Old Gentleman, 'cause a forensic scientist said the remains, in Frankfort, are of a ah....person of a different race.

The Old Gentleman once stated that he would never return to Kentucky, and it would appear that he has kept his word.

God bless

Frazier Historical Arms Museum in Louisville. The museum's name has apparently changed, hopefully it still has all the exhibits from the Royal Armoury.
