I got out my Pedersoli Kentucky Pistol In .50 Cal yesterday. I had some patches I had lubed and dried. I was all over the target, none in the black. I went into the house to get something( I shoot off my back porch)And saw some of Bird dog 6's patch lube I had laying around. I gave the next patch a squirt and bang! In the bull. Every shot after with the wet patch was in the black.
This was at 25yds, with 30 grains of Goex 3f. I don't know if it was just the difference between the dry and wet patch or if bird dog's lube is magic, but I intend to check out that lube with some of my other guns.

Did you retrieve any of the "lubed and dried" patches?
It would be interesting to know if they were burned or "blown". If they were, that could explain the poor accuracy they were giving you.

Never had a use for dry patches with real bp. Never had a problem with powder contamination with greasy lube.
