Does anyone have any experience with this pistol from Middlesex Village Trading Companie ? Its caught my eye andI am wanting to place my order but I thought I would seek some imput from people (Shooters) here. Thanks

The only thing I know for sure is that are made in India or Pakistan---whatever. These guns would be kind of iffy in my book and I personally would avoid said purchase. But that's my HO on the matter, for whatever it's worth. :hatsoff:

middlesex villiage does buy these in western India and then works them over before selling them. We ordered one and found that it was very well made and shot very well too. The guy at Middlesex Villiage is a real enthusiast and puts quite a lot of effort into his business.

I went ahead and bought it. I recieved it today.,they are but 40 miles north of me. I am really happy with it so far. Yea the man on the phone says he likes to tune the lock a bit and put a flint in it and make sure its ready to go out the door. The barrel is thicker than I expected.,Its alot lighter than my sea service (8" barrel) and the frizzen throws a shower of spark ! My problem now is trying to find GOEX locally ? Its so hard to get in western washington. Anyway if it shoots as good as it feels and looks.,I am happy ., I will post on it after I find some GOEX !!!

this has some pictures and discussion: http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=156695&highlight=ketland

Thanks for the link., after reading all of it I feel I did the right thing. I still have to try to find some GOEX in Washington State however .,no easy trick :(

I believe you can order small (4-5 pound minimum) from Grafs. The hazmat fee seems to be 20 regardless. My 25 pound order from Clarksville, Ark. Rod and gun was 20 - the same as attached to the small order of Goex Pinnacle I just ordered from Graf's

By coincidence I was able to examine an original brass octagon barelled Ketland and compare it to the picture in the THR post. The main differences are that the original has a shorter front thimble, the cock is straighter and slimmer and the barrel channel in the stock only comes up to the midpoint of the vertical barrel flat. 'Ketland' was stamped lower down on the original also.

Thanks for the Link to Grafs Mec. Thatll work !!
Trigger have you got a link to these original ketlands ora photo? An octagnol barrel would vbe good.,I would very much enjoy seeing them. I am really happy with this piece., (To the best of my limited knowledge and havent fired it yet).
Whatever was used for wood is really nice., lots of grain very red and hard, I am not sure what it is,.its too red for a teak.

Finally.,Finally I got some GOEX from a shop in Puyallup Wa. I tested the flash pan with 3f and 2f .,both flash poof !!! I am excited., I have never shot a flintlock pistol., I have two pistols and havent gotten GOEX before to fire them. (Its hard to find where I am at) I just fire Cannons LOL anyway we just did a flash test off the porch!.,what a cool charging feeling., we are going to go out Sunday and try out this .60 Ketland and lat you know how it does.

The same shop with the GOES is drilling the vent for me on my sea service pistol (Military Heritage) as well as working on the lock.,its a hard pull so we get to finally shoot it soo too.
Sory for the lame post I am just excited.,like when I got my first cannon
