well, i went and did it ... like i need another flintlock project ... but it's really cute, and it followed me home, and can we keep it? please o please o please??

.40 cal with ash stock.

by way of dumb questions, does anyone have a recommendation on finishing ash? i've done maple and lacewood, but never ash.

also, has anyone had any experience with Mark Lee slow rust blue? what equipment do i need?
... i noticed that the instructions mention sandblasting the parts, but if i can avoid buying a sandblaster for this one project, that would be nice.

any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks... MSW

Hi Scota, thanks for getting back to me on that ... what level of gloss do you get with this technique? Do i assume correctly that this will give you a black color?

Any thoughts on finishing ash? ... it's unlike any other stock i've ever used ... lots of deep open grain and some areas of what's sort of like tiger stripe on maple, but i am VERY hesitant to go with a stain, because (a) i don't want to botch it up and (b) i really like the color as it is now. ... looking at Tried& True, which is said to be a mix of linseed oil and wax.

appreciate your help! :)
