I have a perersoli Kentucky long rifle kit. The barrel has a temporary bluing on it. What is the best way to remove this. I have heard that navel jelly will work, but want to check before I use this. Do not want to damage the barrel. Thanks in advance.

There were no instructions. A diagram showing the parts and where they go. It does say “temporary bluing” I will go with the sanding route. Was not to sure about the navel jelly.

I’ve used a wallpaper pan and covered the barrel with vinegar. After a few minutes pull it out and wipe it off. A few times of doing this all the blueing is gone. Once finished wash the barrel good inside and out to remove all the vinegar.

I sanded mine. It needed cleaned up some anyways. I experimented with bluing it. Used Birchwood Casey super blue but instead of actually following directions I wiped the whole thing down real good with the blue then dried it wiped it off with alcohol and coated it in olive oil then let it sit in the shed for a coupe weeks. The olive oil didn't let it actually rust but the whole thing turned a worn brown color. I'll have to get some pictures it turned out way better than I expected.

Found a birch wood Casey bluing kit with everything needed to strip and blue the barrel. Will take a trip to Cabela’s this weekend and pick it up.

Have an update. I finished my rifle. I will add some pictures soon. Now to get powder and go shoot it.
