PC= Period correct.

HC= Historically correct.

There is a difference, mostly based in geography. For example, a "Hawken" style mountain rifle is Period Correct from about 1820- 1860. However, you would not expect to see such guns used by Eastern hunters during that period- so to be Historically correct, you need to be located in, or representing a Western Shooter. The T/C Hawken rifle is Loosely based on some of the later "California" Hawkens designs of the 1850s, and would not be usually found East of the Sierra Madre Mountains.

I hope this helps. Build the gun you like, and shoot it. Worry a lot less about what others think or say about the gun. Its your Gun.

. Birddog6 the reason there is a lug in the waist is that the manufacture put one there, so there was nothing I could do about that. In fact they put four cuts for the underlugs on a 42" barrel, go figure!

Matter of builder choice, but I use 3 underlugs on a 31-38" barrel & when I go over 38" in length I use 4 underlugs. Normally I would cut the dovetails on a B-50 but only about .025 to .030 deep.

I shoot 65 grains of 3F Scheutzen in the B-50's I am shooting.

In a Rice or Colerain B-50 I am comfortable with 80 grains of 2F. Don't know about a Getz, I haven't seen one in so long I forgot what they look like. :grin:

If your nervous about the thin waist, you can solder that underlug on.

I just did a Chambers New England Fowler kit. There were somethings that could have been better but overall, it came out good. I needed it in a hurry and didn't have time to make one from scratch. I live near the man who cuts Chambers stocks so I ran down to his house and got the stock there. Saved some shipping dollars.

Dave Keck at Knob Mountain Muzzleloading just came out with a decent Beck Kit. It's based on a Colerain B weight barrel, a Chambers Golden Age lock and all of his own investment cast hardware. I think he's asking about $725 or $750 for one with a Dunlop grade 4 stock. His does not have the forarm shaped. Everything else is inletted. I put one together a few weeks ago as a test. It came out nice. This kit is not on his web site yet.

He's working on a Lancaster kit but I doubt if you'll see it before the end of this year.

A hunting load I have tried in my gun is 90gr. of 2F. I didn't like the grps. or the recoil. My actual hunting load is 75gr. of Schuetzen 2F. The 2F part is my choice. I personally don't like using 3F in gun larger than a 50. Again it is me, not the gun, I like the little bit softer recoil that I get with 2F. But, use what you want, if it is safe and does what you want it to do.

Dave, you used these loads in a B weight 50 cal barrel? How many times did you shoot it with 90 grs.? And how well did your deer go down with 75 grs. and what distance did you take them at. Would you feel comfortable out to 100 yrds. taking a deer sized animal with this load? Hope you answer, Thanks, Freeloader Oh Ya birddog 6 same questions with your load,65 grs. of 3F. Thank you.
