Looking to make a couple of knives. I have some deer antlers that i would like to use for the handles, but was wondering if anyone had a site for some decent blades. Nothing too expensive as these are my first and i am new to this. Just looking for a decent looking blade at a low cost.

Dixie gun works, crazy crow and track of the wolf all have blades and other knife making accoutrements. Unless you are looking for something hand forged?

Smoke and fire also has a good selection of blades.Or if you want something more origional check the adds in muzzle blasts. :idunno:

All above are good places to look, Also check out Jantz supply, Texas Knife supply, and Sheffields Knifemakers Supply.

Thank you guys for all the help! I am looking to make a couple of smaller patch knives. I will check out these sites

YARD SALES, resale shops, Good Will, some antique shops will often have old carbon steel blades cheap, theres an antique place about 12 miles from me I stop at a couple times a year n sort through all the old knives.Never paid over 6 or 8 bucks for one. I often rehandle old blades to give as gifts n resale at events to cover my gas n food costs, steels usually pretty good n every once in awhile you run into some stuff that is actually nice enough to just keep for yerself.

Yah, me too. I have bought several old carbon steel meat cleavers. They can be cut down into any shape you want, hold a good edge, are fairly easy to sharpen, and are thick enough to make a stout blade. I never pay more than 10 bucks for-em. Check the local antique shops and flea markets. It's the reason me and the old lady get along so well, I antique with her, makes her more tolerant of my hobbies.
