L&R RPL lock

I want to convert a T/C Renegade to flint. I will use L&R's lock. Will the original T/C lock still work after the L&R is inletted to the stock? Thanks for any replies. :winking:

L&R locks will almost drop in. I have two guns I put them on , a CVA and a Lyman, both are flint. I had to remove wood on both under the lock but that was because L&R uses a heavy "V" spring. On a T/C it may be alittle different. I don't have my T/C anymore, sold it, I'd put an L&R on it if I still had it. They make a good drop in lock, much better than what T/Cs come with. As far as changing your gun over to flint you may have to do alittle more fitting for that. I'd do more research before speading that kind of money. I got mine from RMC and I spent 140 each..ouch..Good luck...ssettle

 

Ranger, The T.C. lock will still fit in the mortise after fitting the L&R but due to the amount of wood you'll have to remove to make room for the larger flat spring and internals of the L&R lock, it (the T.C. lock) may suck in a bit deeper than before the inletting work. You won't have to remove any wood from the circumferance of the mortise, just the inside. Go slow, check your fit often and you'll have no problems. squint

Thanks yall, That is what I needed to find out. I wanted to be able to swap back to percussion if needed.

I think if I was going to do change a T/C over, I would go with a T/C lock. I know several guys that are using them & I am told the new improved T/C locks are reliable & fast. Also they have a Lifetime warranty on the lock & on the entire rifle & nobody I know of can beat the T/C warranty. I think the L&R warranty is 90 days from date of purchase or something like that.
