Good Evening All,
So today I played with my new toy, a bore endoscope, and boy was I surprised. I have 4 SxSs that I want to inspect, what I saw surprised me. The photos are of a hammer breach loader that has a Belgian laminated barrel not proofed for nitro. Why I showed this one is I have fired it with BP shells and the old guy I got it from 30 years ago used to shoot modern shells in the 60s. Looking down the barrels the bores looked good but with the bore scope not so nice.
Firstly has anyone else looked at their Damascus, twist or laminate and saw the joining lines of the ribbon that gets wrapped around?
I would think after the barrel was hammer forged that the barrel would be bored and the lines would vanish.
I was also surprised by the machine marks that are visible, I know the outside was draw filed but how did they finish the bore?
Like said this bore looked great until I saw the inside.
