What would you suggest using for a sprue cutter?

I just wait for the balls to cool and use wire cutters. If you cut and twist the ball at the same time, it cuts pretty clean, and sometimes you can see a pinhole in the sprue stem and reject the ball. The small cutters will cut almost level to the ball.

Exactly what EC said...flush cut wire cutters and twist makes a super clean cut

What would you suggest using for a sprue cutter?

I use dog toe nail clippers. Cuts sprue flush with the ball surface so ball near perfectly round.

Almost anything will do; wire cutters, side cutters, the semi-circular cut-out notch on a bag mold. Lead isn't that hard.

Never used anything that wasn't a sprue cutter plate on a mold before, figured it was worth asking.
