Will i need little help here trying to deside on cal. of next rifle i would like to go bigger than 62 but not as large as 72.Do any of you shoot anything between thes two calbers? If so i would like to hear about it.Any help would be much apprecation. Thanks

I don't have one, but I've always thought that .69" is a very nice calibre, and would make up into a very nice rifle that would be a bit more slim and trim than something in the 12 gauge range. That's what I'd be looking at if I thought I needed more than my .61", and less than my .75".

Ron,

I shoot a smooth bore flintlock in 16 Ga. / .662 Cal. Patched Round Ball (433 Gr. of lead). The .648 Cal. mold I purchased form Jeff Tanner. http://www.jt-bullet-moulds.co.uk/

The charge is 80 Gr. FF with a prime of FFFF.

If bring a caplock to the range, I usaly forget to shoot it.

I do enjoy shooting this combination.

Jim...

I have a .69 caliber 1842 musket that I'm quite fond of. One of these days I may pick up the rifled version. A .69 caliber Minie rifle ought to get the job done, I reckon.

Thanks guys for info. called about 66cal today but he has got to make rifling head for that caliber i want one real bad.Don't have rifle to work on just about to go nuts.Oregan barrel company says thay can make me one but i don't know what kind of qualty to expect from them.Might be better off waiting on rifing head to get made

Is Oregon barrel company the same as The Gunworks? If not, you might contact Joe and Suzi at the Gunworks in Springfield, Or. They make barrels. From what i have heard, they do good work.

Rebel Yes that is the same company.Rayl said it would be Sept before he could make me one, well that what i get for not thinking ahead this time.

Oregon Barrel Company produces some very fine barrels and they stand behind what they make...Joe and Suzy Williams are some really good people...I have 4 of thier barrels and they shoot really great... :front:
