I'ts the flintlock season here in PA, and it's cold. I hav'nt had any luck yet. Got to thinking out there...How do you guys hunt deer in the late season? I still hunted on mon. mostly due to the weather, don't think i could have sat very long in the 8 degree air. But it's hard to sneak around when the leaves are like potatar chips.

You either have to know where they're eating, where they're sleeping, or where they travel between those two locations.

Dress in layers, as much as it takes to keep warm. If you can keep your extremities warm (hands and feet) you've got it made. Get some of those heat packs for inside your boots and pockets . A good warm hat or hood that covers your ears and a wool scarf.

If you get too comfy you'll fall asleep. :haha:

I am going out at about noon today for the last time this year - back to work tomorrow. Anyhow, I hear what you are saying. On Monday it was extremely cold in SE PA and the wind was so strong that on several occassions I had to cover my mouth with a glove in order to draw a breath. I did not see a single living thing. And by the time I got into the truck - I was not sure I was living either. Yesterday it was a bit warmer but you could not move in the woods without making a lot of noise. The ground was saturated with water and now frozen -- every footfall crunches and can be heard a long way off. I heard another hunter crunching through the trees about 200 yards away long before I could see his orange suit. Anyhow, once more into the breach and then maybe in January on a Saturday. ::
