I had never made a lined bag so I thought that I would give it a try. This one is lined with hemp canvas dyed with walnut hulls. There is a full gusset with full length welts for strength. The strap is adjustable with slits and an antler button on the back. All edges are wrapped. Unfortunately, I was trying to talk and work at the same time and managed to get the strap and buckle on the flap just a little off center.

You can increase the width of your buckling straps where the attach to the bag, centering them. You can then taper them to the buckle width.

Nice.

You could also make a leather rosette (pinked edge) to fit between the bag and buckle to cover the added holeds. But I like the Captain's idea of just using a wider strap base trimmed down to fit. You could come up with something ornamental - like a fleur deLis or arrowhead. Or even a half-circle would look good.

Like so:

You ever need help recovering from "woopses", I'm your man. My wife says she knows whenver she hears "Aw S#it!" she should back away quietly; but if she hears me sucking air through clenched teeth, "Esssssss" she should grab the first aid kit and iodine.

As a former boss used to say: "Never time to do it right. Always time to do it over."

Very good suggestions, so I won't add more there.

But I think it's worthy to point out your great stitching. That's something to be proud of! :hatsoff:

Yeah. If you'd a said it was that way on purpose and done so that with right-handed carry it would be esier to open I'd have been right on board and really impressed.

I guess they call that "spin". :haha:
