Is there a way to use the lead in car batteries? I was cleaning up a old boat yard and there are about ten old batteries. Some of which are extra large, like twice the size of a normal battery. I do not know if I could salvage the lead. What do you think?

DONT DO IT! Modern batterys contain calcium and it reacts with antimony to produce a poision gas.

Better off going to the lumber yard or Home Depot and get a 50# roll of "Roofing Flashing" (about $34.00). Averages out to $0.68 / lb. Clean, dead soft, easy to handle, and you know what you've got.
Start playing with batteries and you'll end up loosing your pants and shirt to the acid residue (a $34 value?). Don't ask how I know. :imo:
