A friend of mine just gave me a large sheet of lead that is so soft that it bends when stared at.He does some home repair jobs on the side and he said that he had removed this lead sheet from under the base of a shower that he was replacing.Should be enough lead to last me the rest of my time on this old earth. You guys that are looking for lead should contact your local contractors and see if they have any similar finds. :)

Yes, that's good stuff. I've been steadily working through a 400lb supply of sheet lead that came out of a demolished x-ray lab at a local hospital. It's quite easy to handle as you can cut it into meltable chunks with a pair of tin snips or a sharp knife.

That is probably standard 4 pound lead. We can buy sheet lead in 4 pound per square foot and 6 pound per square foot sizes. It is dead soft and you can cut it with a sharp knife. That is the good stuff for round balls.

I pour round balls .32 through .54.This lead ought to make perfect hunting rounds. He told me yesterday that he might have another sheet for me.He said that another friend of his is remodeling his house and he has discovered a sheet under the roofing where a window projects from the house.Call your local roofers and see if they have any scrap on hand.
