My next stock will be a leman trade fullstock in plain maple, i would like to " paint" tiger stripe's like most leman's had. Has anyone had any luck with this method

I havn't done it but I think that Jack Brooks has some instructions on his websight about how he does it. I have also read where a guy stained the wood using leather dye and for the stripes he used a small brush and painted the stripes on after the first coat of stain dried. He used the same leather dye for the stripes.

As noted go to Jack Brooks site and follow his instructions to do it"right".......

Try dropping a PM to Killer. He Tiger Stripped his sons rifle when he redid it. As I remember, it was simple, but don't remember how he did it.
