Hello all and let me say thanks to the site administrators for having me.I am retired at 53 years of age and just begiining to enjoy life. Not that I did not enjoy while working but it seemed like I had actually worked longer than I had been living.

I have read all the rules and agree to abide and I am glad to see that short post's are not
a must, because I am from central Louisiana and if anyone reading this knows even a little bit about my stomping ground then they also know I am cajun--Some folks have another name for us and in no way does it offend me

Only problem I may have is that being cajun I love to talk, so word of warning many of my post's will be a little bit long-(most cajuns are long-winded)

Again,thanks for having me--------Mike----

welcome aboard mike - you found a good spot. jump in whenever you like. being long-winded you will be in good company.

Welcome!

Retiring early has long been a goal of mine. But it's almost too late. ::

You see, I've developed this addiction to groceries and a roof over my head. But, who needs such things? I can quit any time I want.

Or, when THE ADMIRAL allows it at least.

If it were just me I would retier now, sell the house and what ever else I could and buy a piece of land in the mountains and live in my tent and hunt for my food. But I live in the real world and the kids like things like store bought food and tv and such so I will probably work until I'm dead and then retier. As far as being long winded I havn't met a mountain man yet that wasn't so join the club, your in good company. Welcome

Welcome to the best muzzleloading site on the net, hope you enjoy yourself! :hatsoff:

Thanks to all for the warm welcome--I feel at home now
Let me tell you guys thats thinking about retirement a lil secret. You can survive. You will learn how to squeeze here and pinch there and the end result will be wonderful. Since I retired I do not wear my watch and have to think a while before I can remember what day it is.I still have a son in school (senior) as well as three other children and three beautiful grandkids next door. Now as you all know I give those lil ones every thing I could not give my kids when they were little, not that my kids did without. When my kids were little and their momma went grocery shopping they had to choose between potato chips or cookies.Sometimes I will take the grandkids shopping but even when I dont they have a never ending supply of chips, cookies, ice cream, and all the chocolate milk they need to wash it all down and it comes straight from "poppys" retirement check. The best part of it all is that I get to spend more time with them. I have been retired almost a year and a half now and about the only thing I still can't figure out is why the boss (Miss Yes Ma'am Honey Sweet Heart Darling Dollbaby)keeps a fixing my lunch every morning and tells me to be careful and have a good day. Dont really matter tho--What difference does it make if it takes two days to change the oil in the lawnmower.Honestly anyone who has enough time in should retire. Its like a whole new life, for me at least. Only bad thing about it is I dont have a place to go to rest on Monday mornings (dats tru yeah)Guess I'll check out for now but at least I did warn ya'll that I like to talk--Later and thanks again.

Well, heck, we even understand your cajun fonts thanks to our universal translator. Welcome to the forum.

Thx guys.Being new to this forum I am trying to stear myself thru. After my last post I was waiting for the hammer to fall because I read where this section was for introduction only and not general conversation. I am in various forums and they are set up somewhat different as far as "stearing" goes.I would like to edit my profile. How do I do this? OhOh-Here I go again generally conversating on the intro.Plz be patient-I will get it right--I'm gone-
