Here is an antler pan primer and an antler measure/ball block combo I made. The end of the measure has a screw on brass cap so it doubles as a "quick-loader" for first use.

I have these attached to a neck lace along with a pan brush and pick so everything I need for a quick reload is right handy.

I think when he said "femur" he pretty much narrowed it down to bone. ;-)

I use a bone measure; but it's a turkey femur.

Deer leg bone would be pretty thick-walled. It would work but would be bulky.

My shot pouch has a plug that doubles as a shot measure. This works great in the field.

Whitetail leg bone was used this one holding 8 grains of 3F - it's partialy covered with rawhide to add a bit of strength

Ah, I should have paid better attention! Please disregard my previous post

Here's a couple made from bamboo and a double end measure (40grns/60grns).

These two hold 60 grains, the other one holds 30 grains.

LaBonte, how did you stain the measure?
I use Fiebing's Dark Brown or Medium Brown spirit leather dye. Soak it in good, let dry, buff back with a soft cloth, rub down with 4/0 steel wool or a nylon scrub pad to help age. Once done I use a couple of light coats of Tried & True Varnish Oil http://www.triedandtruewoodfinish.com/products/varnish-oil/

Her is a priming horn I made from deer antler along with a knife made from a file and burled root handle

Not up to the high standards of the one from Wick, but these work pretty well.

For the tapered one with natural outer, simply drilled a hole and worked it with a Dremel to gouge out the inside and cleaned it up with a small bent piece of metal in a scraping action. The other was mostly file work after drilling out the inside.

All posted so far are very nice. I especially favor the fish measures.
I have made many measures from antler. They were very plain, no effort at creating art. Since most were too small for full measures with hunting loads I made then as 'half charges'. For plinking and tree rats, the half charge is just fine. For big game or attacking injuns a double dump is needed.
I hate waste :cursing: and belive most short ends and cut-offs of antler can always be made into something useful.
