I love thumbin through old hunting mags. Found this 1908 Field and Stream, check out the fees for non-residents back then.

Accompaning the thirteenth annual report of the New York state forest, fish and game commission, comes the following information in reference to hunting license laws:

"At the present time every state in the Union, with the exception of Georgia, Oklahoma and Nevada, requires non-residents to obtain hunting licenses. New Mexico is the only territory not requiring such a license.

WOW . the way I see it they were expensive back then like they are today . On an adverage of 10 to 25 bucks...per Non Res. Lic. ....That was a real chunk of money back then

$10-15 bucks for non-resident hunting license? That's big bucks in those days.

To help bring things into prespective, A Idaho Nonresident License in 1908 was $25.00, Although it is not mentioned, I don't think there was any additional charges for tags per species hunted.
In 2003 a Nonresident Idaho License, with Deer, Bear, and Elk tags, cost just a bit over $700.00...I don't recall the exact figure.

Although I Pee & Moan quite a bit about today's prices, I think that $25.00 in 1908 may have been even harder to scratch together. ::

:hmm:
Interesting...it references New Mexico as a "territory" and not a state back then...
