As for his comment on "seamless tubing" there are two different kinds of it.

The very very expensive actual seamless tubing that is hot formed and extruded from a billet and the common "seamless tubing" that is available everywhere at very low costs.

I seriously doubt the Indian manufactures are using the actual hot formed/extruded seamless tubing. IMO, the costs and technology are too great.

The reason the common tubing is low cost is that it really is not seamless.
It is rolled and seam welded on an automatic welding machine.
The weld joint is a simple butt weld which are not known for their superior strength.
Then it is drawn over a mandrel to smooth out the weld joint and make it a consistent size and invisible. This type of "seamless" tubing is called DOM (Drawn Over Mandrel) tubing.

I have never heard of the Italians using DOM tubing for a gun barrel. They machine it from a solid bar like a gun barrel is supposed to be made.
