Had this Blunderbuss for a while now and have always wondered why the trigger guard was a different colour to the rest of the brass on the gun?

Looks like a replacement based on the engraving and color of the alloy. The engraving on the gun is standard quick and workmanlike but the guard engraving is well below that level.
