I make my loading block holes about.010 over the bore size. ( ex .460 for 45 caliber ) you can easily get the desired size by using a drill close to the size and then spliting a dowel rod about an inch deep and wraping sand paper around the dowel and sanding the final diamension. You can fine adjust the diameter by adding sheets of paper in the "wrap ". This oversized hole will still hold the patched ball and allow for easy inserting and removale. :hmm: :hmm:

That's cool, but I shoot a .490 in my .50cal, not a .50.

So, use a 1/2" drill for the holes, and, if needed, use sand paper on a dowel to open the holes up to .510 or whatever diameter works best for the .490 ball and the patch thickness you use. Simple.

I do. My point was, you can't just say "make it .010 over bore size". You have to go by the actual ball/patch size, not your caliber.

I understand, now. I would have thought this goes without saying, but some people on this forum have absolutely NO knowledge about doing anything with their hands.

Thank goodness some of the suppliers sell ball boards so they don't have to think about anything. :shocked2: :surrender:
