Hey there, me again. If I use a conical (Lee mold 90384) in my 1858 Pietta Remington new army 44, is it possible to not need to modify my gun to accept the conical bullet by using only a loading stand for the cylinder? Any possible complications?

If you use an external loading stand you are good to use that. Once a cylinder is loaded any projectile should be below the cylinder mouth.

It's a very simple and crude design. The main mast is to short to accommodate the length of a conical, and would most likely still load at an angle if it was taller. The plunger needs a guide to keep it straight.
Even the plunger on your gun has a guide to keep it centered and straight.

JB Weld is my friend.

A thin coat of lube will make the bullet come off the epoxy. Painted the nose with nail polish to make it super smooth (belt and suspenders). Used a few wraps of masking tape to provide the nose support make the outer perimeter of the epoxy mold.

Have you tried simply loading them with a ball starter?

Actually, yes. All it needs is even downward pressure to get it in. Thanks. Might try that.

Concave ball starter did not work to load conicals. I'm just going to melt them down into round balls:-(
