Put your oven on warm. About 180F put you cover in there. When it’s hot to the touch paint it with melted bees wax. You just want it liquid not overly hot. Return to oven and repeat. Do it inside and out. This will make it stiff. If you do too much it can become brittle and break like pottery, so you don’t want to go there. But, you can make it pretty tough and very water resistant.

Here’s a couple I did awhile back..

I simply hand rubbed a cake of bees wax on the leather, then heated it with a heat gun until it liquified and penetrated the leather.

I applied it to both sides of cover inside and out , a couple coats per side.

The same mink oil from Track of The Wolf at we use for patch lube, pure neatsfoot oil.

One possible issue I see is that your leather appears to be rough side out. Is it rough on both sides?
If not, I would work some mink oil or neatsfoot oil into the rough side using heat from a low oven, then turn it smooth side out and apply Sno-Seal or some beeswax to the smooth side.
