I want to install a flash guard on my L & R lock. However, there is no screw on the out side of the lock. The screw head is on the inside, between lock and barrel.
Suggestions?:thanks:

Is it possible to replace the screw with one with longer threads, so that you have in effect a stud sticking beyond the pan bridle? slip the flash guard over the stud and put a nut on it.

Good luck.

Although they make a special spring vise for the frizzen spring, I have never found it necessary to own one.

The frizzen spring doesn't have to be depressed very far to remove the pressure on the frizzen, so I place a brass shim on the top and bottom of the spring and adjust my ViseGrips to just a little smaller than the spring is tall.
Squeezing the spring down until the ViseGrips lock releases the pressure on the frizzen so removing the frizzen screw is easily done.

The hard part may be finding a screw that fits the lock and is longer than the original. :: ::
