I'd suggest a book. Or half a dozen books. It's helpful to look at tutorials, etc, but having a book on the bench and reading about the next task to tackle is very helpful, even for those who have built several. It's easy to get into a job and move too quickly, unless building has already become second nature.

I would suggest the following books:

Recreating the American Longrifle by Shumway
The Gunsmith of Greenville County by Peter Alexander.

I center my front lock bolt in the rounded portion at the front of the lock. This bolt should also pass through the web of the stock. IF it portudes into the ramrod hole slightly I just tapper the ramrod. THe second bolt generally runs through the rear extension of the breachplug and into the this portion of the lock plate behind the pan. I start my taps by running them completely through the stock to ensure my threads are running true to the hole drilled.
