Hey all you Texas Ranger fans!
The Witte Museum in San Antonio, Texas., is having an 20th Anniversary Museum Exhibit dedicated to the novel and TV movie "Lonesome Dove". which was popularized by actors Tommy Lee Jones and Robert Duvall as two Retired Texas Rangers on a cattle drive to Montana. The exhibit includes numerous photos, and props including Gus McCrae's ( Duvall's character) Walker Colt pistol. Any fan of the series and of the Texas Rangers should enjoy this. It starts on Saturday Sep. 19th 2009 - Jan. 3rd 2010.

Any of my fellow Texans wanna join me?

My all time favourite movie. I will be sure and check it out the next time I'm in San Antone.

Thanks for the info.

I've been to San Antone once, does that count? Love Lonesome Dove. Robert Duvall at his best.  GW

I'm gonna try to go there next week. I'll let ya'll know how it went.

Well,
I went to the Witte today. The exhibit's on the second floor. Has it's own wing. First thing you see is some of the props. They got the "mummified body" dummy of Augustus there with one eye unwrapped and staring at you. :shocked2:
They have Gus's grave marker there with the latin markings, and the painted "Lonesome Dove" sign that hung over the general store. And Gus's Walker and holster too. All this is in the very FIRST display too. There are huge picture portaits everywhere in several rooms. Makes you feel like your actually seeing Old West historic photos. Theres a few more props in other rooms too and the soundtrack from the mini-series is playing overhead. Admission is $8. Overall, it's not a bad exhibit. Not huge, but good. I'd recommend making the trip to see it if your visiting San Antonio and want to get one more place to visit under your belt. It's worth it if you plan to see a few sights and not just this exhibit alone. I think you'll like it.
