Let's see if this picture of my latest knife comes through:
1a74a86b.jpg

The rusty slab below the knife is the same as blank I cut the blade from. It's a meat slicing blade, I got two of them off a trade blanket.
The haft is a piece of hickory rake handle with Fiebing's brown leather dye as a stain.

Love the shape on that knife. :hatsoff: How long is the original blade (the meat slicer). How did you cut it? I have an old blade I want to reshape a little but it is going to require more than a grinder in some areas.

Very nice.

The meat slicer blade ends in a round tip just off the edge of the picture. I used a dremel with a cutoff wheel to rough shape it, then filed it to shape. That way I have small pieces of what turned out to be some really fine steel to play with instead of grinder dust.
Colored it with LMF cold brown. The brass pins will meet with disapproval from some, but heck, I just like to work with brass.
BTW, no epoxy was injured in the building of this knife. Let's see if it holds together like the old ones.
(I make knives to give me a reason to make sheaths.)

Good looking knife and sheath - you can be proud

Me thinks the trick to keeping a set of handles in tact is to not be throwing it to see if it will stick :nono: :rotf:

Nice looking pig sticker LeatherMoose.

That rake handle never looked so good! Nice clean piece that anybody would carry with pride.
