So TVM guns are kits right ? I have checked out loyelst arms Track of the wolf,Pecitonica rifle works, and jim chambers.I am looking for aflint that can fit in the 1790's to the 1840's.Now I cant aford to buy a fancy custom gun and so I am resigned to building a kit.I was warned that tracks kits may be a bit advanced for a newbie builder and some times they dont ship all the parts. At any rate I am looking at the Golden age rifle in flint or the erly Tennessee rifle in flint from track. And from TVM I like the erly Lancaster flint. What ever it is there will be no fancy stuff.Iron where needed Just plain poor boy.Are TVM guns kits ? and how hard can it be to finish a gun that has it all cut out for you ?I am trying to spend no more then $800.00 (strict wife orders )I tried to post where I asked this before but I could not find it.Sorey.Oh yeah I forgot. How about pectonica rifle works they any good ?

All of those makers and suppliers are pretty good. I would think you might want an in-the-white gun. You can save some money for the effort to finish the wood and metal parts. All the hard work if putting the gun together is done. In fact an in-the-white gun is shootable just as it is received. TVM makes kits through completed guns for some pretty good prices.

Yup thats the plan I will get it in the white and spend the diffrence on the next level up of fancy wood.

Hey Stinky,
I've got a Chambers.It's great!I don't think you'd be dissappointed with a kit from them.

Many of the guns offered by Track are the same as those offered by Pecatonica River as PR supplies the wood to Track. These kits are more a rough collection of parts than a true kit. Not a problem, but a consideration if you are not up to that amount of work yet. I built one and was very glad to have the assistance of a friend who was quite skilled in gun building to mentor me through the project. Otherwise, I would have needed to have Track perform some of the work for me prior to shipping.

TVM can supply you with a kit or an in the white rifle for less than the money that you describe. I have an early Lancaster that I put together and like it quite well.

Chambers can supply you with a kit for close to that, but it will have a swamped barrel and premium lock and wood. It is a higher level and costs the extra. I have not purchased one of these yet.

If you are wanting a Tennessee, you might make sure of the lock, as many suppliers use the large Siler which I do not believe is correct. I have one on mine as I did not know better. It work flawlessly, but when I build another in flint it will have a more correct lock.
