I am looking for the buyer of this item for the information about 11th IL. Cav. Co. G that may have accompanied it. This was my G.G.Grandfather Consol’s unit in the Civil War and I am attempting to write a history of Co. G.

The 1861 Colt was sold sometime before 2000 by WILDMAN'S CIVIL WAR SURPLUS, 2879 SOUTH MAIN STREET, KENNESAW,GA. 30144

Unfortunately, they do not have a record of who was the buyer.

Here is the info about it that was on their website in early 2003:

SOLD>1861 Navy 6 Shot Colt- Presented to Capt. S.S. Tripp. 11th Cav. Co. G. Serial # in 64 range Fair Shape.Archives, Records and Weapon. $2250.00

If you have any information regarding this Colt, its buyer, or the history of Co. G (detached in ’62 from the rest of 11th IL. Cav.), please contact me at [email protected]

Sorry Dave, no information regarding the Colt, but for the history of the 11th Il.Cav,Comp.G take a look at: Link
There you can see the following:Co. G only: Operations against Vicksburg[Siege of Vicksburg], Atlanta Campaign[Kenesaw Mountain, Battle of Atlanta, Jonesborough], March to the Sea
:hatsoff:

Thanks for the reply. I have that info, plus every reference to Co.G that is in the OR's. (thank goodness for the internet--otherwise I would have had to buy ALL of the OR's)
I'm really looking for a diary, letters, etc from any member of Co. G.
