Looking for Ruger Old Army cylinders, so I can pre-load them the night before a shoot.

Got one back from Ruger with some warranty work. Not sure if fitted or not but it shoots!

Do not believe that to be the case. You can order ROA conversion cylinders of the type that we don’t discuss here, install and use them with no gun smithing. Would seem to indicate Ruger held close tolerances and interchangeability should be possible. I know that the two I had years ago worked worked with either cylinder, but that is only a sample size of two with fairly close serial numbers.

@SDSmlf is correct, the stock cylinders will almost certainly run in any Old army. Classicballistx has replacement cylinders too, bored straight, they’ve got a bit more powder capacity than stock, not needed for cowboy shooters but nice if you’re ever going hunting with that Ruger.

Recently read that the early 1970's Old Army frames had a bit smaller frame opening so fitting extra cylinders may be required for those.

Have owned multiple Ruger Old Army revolvers over many years. Don't think I ever had a problem swapping cylinders. Had three newer ones at one point and all the cylinders interchanged.
