Thanks all for the warm welcome! And thanks, JT for the advice! I definitely would love a flintlock, and would be getting one regardless. For the caps, I notice that some online retailers seem to have them in stock for about 10 cents/cap. Is it more an issue of the supply being unreliable? I have to admit, I also have a hankering for a classic-style peppergun. I'm a sucker for weird arms. Might have to write up a "wanted" post in the trade forum, since they seem a little hard to find online.
 
Welcome from the Catskills. I've been shooting BP for over 20yrs and have never even fired a flinchlock. I stocked up on caps so I'm good to go.
