I have a colonial .72 caliber smoothbore that I picked up last year that is perfect for my persona and the gun is light, easy to carry and fits me perfectly. It has nice wood with burl figure, and was made without power tools, meaning cut and scraped the old way. The gun was originally made by a fellow named 'Kevin T. Callis' that is engraved on he top of the swamped Getz barrel in the gun. The issue is the maker didn't leave enough wood on the bottom of the gun for a proper ramrod, and consequently, he had to taper the ramrod and it's too short for the gun as the lock screw gets in the way. The wood barrel channel also doesn't match the taper and swell of the swamped barrel. The best option if I want a fatter ramrod and one that fits properly in the gun to to get a whole new stock made using the current parts from the existing gun. Can anyone on the list pass along a name or contact information of a good gun re-stocker that would be willing to re-stock properly a swamped barreled smoothbore ?? You can contact me offlist at [email protected] if you like .....
