That depends on the Muzzleloader. Different companies use different methods of attaching them but assuming you are asking about a half stock rifle, most of the thimbles are screwed to the steel strip on the bottom of the barrel.

These strips are usually screwed to the bottom of the barrel so, if yours is you have to remove it.
After it is removed you will see a counterbored hole with a screw in it at each thimble.
Tighten the thimble screws but not too tight. They are screwed into the very thin brass thimble wall and can be easily stripped out if too much force is used.

After the thimble screws are tightened, replace the barrel strip.
