LOTM Grenade Launcher

I can't find the post. Someone mentioned in the DVD version of LOTM you see a soldier with a grenade launcher when the redcoats sally forth from Ft. William Henry. Last night on the Fox Movie Channel I saw the movie. Yup, there was the grenade aluncher. The direcor cuts away jut as the order to fire is given, but I believe it was even fired. The soldier is just behind the officer in thsoe scenes. You don't see it well but the blooper is there.
I forgot to look for the bus and the guy in the ball cap during the massacre scene though.

 

i believe what your are seeing is not a grander but a signal piece. I saw one for sale a while back on auction arms . what it is is like a trumpet on the end of a short blunderbuss type stock .
if you watch the CD with the full uncut version you will see the smoke ring go up with the command to fire . notice also he fires from the ready and from the left hand side of the major
if my military history serves me this was a way for the commanding generals to tell who was engaged , when and where .

You might be right. I know there was a discussion about that scene and grenade launcher being used somewhere here.
If that is signal gun, how does that tell the generals who is fighting? The sound would just get lost in the general musketry. :hmm:

 

well not only the sound as its something to behold , kind of like an air horn on a semi but also from the distinct smoke it makes if you have the uncut version the person in question is at a position of attention almost like a gideon barrer would be . Notice above the firing line smoke a nice neat smoke ring climbing sky word .


i believe but could be wrong that a grenadier has a different muzzle , something almost like what ships use to fire mooring lines
