I lube my .58 cal maxie's with my finger using bore butter last time I shot them. Mine are from a mold I cut and weigh 620 grains if I remember correctly. Not much fun to shoot with 150grains of 2F Goex but it is a very accurate load to the 100 yards I tested it. It would do about 2 MOA as I remember but was brutal to shoot off the bench.
Had to use a Past pad and it kicks worse than a .458 Winchester I have shot.
I don't think that much recoil is good for a person from a sit down bench rest but tolerable if standing and using a past pad or very heavy Carthart canvas coat. Mike D.

an easy way??
A tin lid from a can that has a pop off lid (like christmas candy or cookies.
Mix PURE beeswax and and tallow (hog lard for example) together. Melt each and mix. Get a consistency you like and works for you.
set bullets in the tin lid. Pour the melted mixture in. Let set up. use a hollow tube to cut out. They make special sized tubes for this, but rigid copper pipe of right diameter will work or similar

Put a dozen maxis at a time in an ice cream container, pour in a bit of Lee liquid Allox and swish them around until coated stand them on a piece of kitchen/baking paper and let them dry (preferably on the kitchen bench to upset the minister for war and finance). Can do a second coat if you think it is necessary.

If you don't want to make your own, buy it from Dixie, called "Old Zip patch grease". Mutton tallow and bees wax. It is stiff and sticky enough to stay on the bullets. After lubing, I roll a half dozen at a time in aluminum foil to keep 'em clean.

I just worked up a Maxi-ball load for my T/C Hawken using 245 grain Maxi's lubed with bore butter, lubed felt wad and 70grains of Goex3f. This loads is very accurate.
