lubing a grease-grooved bullet

Hello All,
My usual procedure for My P-H Volunteer rifle's gg bullets is to dip them up to the shoulders in melted lube, let them dry and run them through the resizing die. It works pretty well. I normally shoot 35-40 rounds in a session without any cleaning at all and, if I do my part, I'm rewarded with 2 to 2-1/2 inch groups at 100 yards. Today I read that a well-known black powder writer advises a dab of lube but on the base of the conical only. I was wondering if anyone here uses that technique and what results they were getting.

Keep your bullets greased "in the groove" just like you're doing. Writers don't know it all.

Grease my Gibbs (kit made) .45 cal target rifle's 530 grain bullet with a bees wax / soap mix by packing the grooves and then sizing. I use a card under the bullet over the powder. Good results. Just can not let the "grease" harden - pack it the day I shoot, don't bring any back.

Le Grand is absolutely correct on both accounts. I have used lube cookie under the bullet when the day was really hot and dry, but always with lube in the grooves.
