Anyone know a good way to add a thin amount of bore butter to 100s of patches all at once?
Why would you want to? Greasy lubes are only suitable for situations where you will be leaving your gun loaded for an extended period. For daily shooting on the range or rondy, a wet patch (detergent and water is what I use) will keep you shooting all day without having to wipe out fouling every 10 shots or so. The buttered patches also tend to 'dry out' over time, so doing a stack of more than what you need for the next few days or weeks might not work out. When I wanted (a long time ago) to do a stack with bbutter, I melted the bbutter in a shallow dish on a repurposed coffee maker hot plate, then just toss the stack in; the melted lube will soak in quite quickly (squish the stack a few times to work bubbles out). Pull the stack out, and squeeze out excess liquid; let it cool, and you can peel one patch at a time off the stack. It's a pretty tidy way to carry patch in an old cap tin.

Thats great advice and some do-do that -that i shoot competition with.I use the wet patch to wipe out every other shot or so.I get great results i think from the lube to seal the gas,and makes the bore slippery and easier to load when i dont use liquids to wipe out ...sometimes i get 4 shots from it.Dont know but a good idea you have.

I use to melt bore butter in the microwave and lube up the patches, but switched to moose milk after seeing bore butter patches smoldering in the grass. I don't want no fire starting by me in warm weather. Still use bore butter in the winter. Several replies posted that have good advice.
lol THATS FUNNY.MY son and his friend went duck hunting when teenagers,,,this anti hunting nut see them and began screaming ,WHAT ARE YOU DOING??/ YOUR GOING TO SET THE WOODS ON FIRE..LOL

I use a hole punch ($12 on Amazon) in a drill press, punch wads out of 1/8" wool felt and soak them in olive oil. A little messy to use but what isn't in this corner of the shooting sports? Keep a hand towel around. They get stored in small ziplocks and work very well in keeping fouling soft. The rifle is very accurate using them as overpowder wads under a R.E.A.L.

AMAZON HOLE punch 12.00 huh thanks.I want one 1-3-8 for patches for 50-54 cal

Wow lots of good ideas here. I think rafterrob has the one I’m going to try. Dawn soap and water in a spray bottle. Really gave this topic much thought until this thread.
Just add enough Dawn till you can feel the slickness between your thumb and forefinger when you dip them in the solution. It does not take much at all.

think id use murphys oil instead of dawn

I just cut a few patches out using scissors, lube a few with TOW mink oil - wouldn't use or consider using bore butter - and that's it. I'm more of a "lube as needed" kinda guy and if the gun doesn't get fired it'll be safe from rust with the mink oil lube. For all other shooting I like Hoppes #9 BP Lube, again lubing as I shoot.

I just did about 500 in 20 minutes...i melted deerfat and added some hoppes patch lube n cleaner to make it more wetter inside of a plastic bag in the microwave..threw in just the right amount of patches and neaded it all around them..awsome..thank you all for the help..The microwave idea was a good help.
