The PA flinlock season ended yesterday and things weren't looking good for me. I have taken at least one deer every year for the past 13 seasons. This year I was getting skunked. I decided to go to my friends camp to hunt with him. When we got there I took my gun out of the case and not looking put it in the gun rack in slot 13. Saturday was Jan. 13th and my 13th day of hunting in the season. I missed the only deer I had gotten a shot at all season when I was trying to shoot between two trees and hit one of them solidly. At that point I had seen nine deer. I saw one more deer at about 2:00 pm but no shots. At 4:00pm I saw three more deer putting my total for the day at 13. I managed to make a very nice shot at a little past 50 yards on a nice size doe. I was giving the deer to a friend who needed the meat because his daughter and son-inlaw had moved in with him after losing everything they had in a fire 13 days earlier. And yes for those who will ask I do use T/C number Thirteen to clean my gun. ME Superstitious? All I can say is I sure am glad the streak has stretched to 14 concecutive seasons. Maybe I should change my ID here to Hunter13.
