Wondering if anyone on here makes/uses the Lyman 450 grain .54 Plains Bullet.
I ordered the mold and handles and wanted to see if anyone has input on it.
I'm going to shoot it out of my 1:48 twist Trade Rifle and Deerstalker.

You will probably be very happy with it in the 1:48 barrel. I bought some and tried them in my 1:60 GPR, and accuracy was marginal at best due to the slow twist. As range increased and the bullet slowed, accuracy really went downhill. I gave the rest of the box to a friend with a 1:48 TC, and it's now his favorite bullet.

I cast the 380 grain REALS for my .54 GPR. With 85 grains of Goex 3f they shoot very well. But with that big bullet it has a hell of a kick! Leaves my sholder black and blue! I haven't shot any of those latly. Can't stand the pounding on this old body.

I also cast the 300 and 380 REAL's but get marginal accuracy with them.
I'm still looking for that magic conical that will deliver the best accuracy in my 1:48.
I'm also thinking of getting a 1:32 hunter barrel for my GPR for shooting conicals.
I shoot roundball almost exclusively right now but I enjoy experimenting with different things, it keeps life interesting.

I should have said that I have the hunter barrel with the fast twist for the REALS.

For anyone interested, I got the mould for the 450 grain plains bullet and I fired a few of them out of my new Lyman Deerstalker.
Great shooters with a felt wad and 90 or 100 grains of Goex 2f.
Sub 3 inch groups at 50 yards. That's with me flinching shooting my first flintlock.
I will try them out of my percussion Trade Rifle and see how they do.
