I have a .54 cal plains pistol by lyman that I was wantitg to know if I could rebarrel it to a 58 cal. The only reason I would do it is because my rifle is 58 any help.

1eyedMM, as far as I know, the largest bore size for the Plains Pistol is .54. You would have to get a .58 caliber pistol barrel, breech it and put the under lug, sights, etc. on using the old barrel as a pattern. If you don't mind a smoothbore then you could just have a 'smith ream out the 54 bbl. I think the cost to have it rifled would be too costly to be practical. So, there are 2 options for you.

Depends how much you want to spend to rebore, I got a quote of $150 to rebore from one source (that was for a rifle barrel, don't know if a pistol would be less or not) and I still haven't called Ed Rayl to see what he charges to rebore.
