I just got an unfired Lyman Great Plains rifle in 50 cal. It was made in 2018 by investarm. How good are they the fit and finish looks good.
Please explain “dot matrix markings”It happened fast right place right deal right price. The fit and finish is good the only thing I don’t care about is the dot Matrix marking.
Moment of truth deerstalker? Was it operator error or machinery at fault?;-)mine is one of my favorite rifles. it is flintlock .54 and the only time ever that it failed me was when i had my sights on a nice black bear.
Dot Maxtrix is when they use a machine to mark things with a dots. You can do all kinds of marking on things. We use it a work it just looks cheap on a gunPlease explain “dot matrix markings”
Thanks I will2018....should be pretty good. Guns are like people. Every one is an individual. Have fun!
I just regret selling my Browning 50 cal mountain carbine. That gun could shoot and it was well made.I had one, loved it. Made mistake to sell it, built another in .54. I have not fired it yet but it is very nice. I browned the barrel as I usually do. I think they are the best of the factory ML rifles. Just my 2 1/2 cents worth.
3 clatches and the bear headed for the west coast after the last one. took the rifle home and it fired first try at the gong. wasn't the bears day to die.Moment of truth deerstalker? Was it operator error or machinery at fault?;-)
You’re right had it in my log book as a carbine. It was heavy but it shot good off hand.I have a Jonathan Browning mountain rifle in .50. Great gun. but what is the 'carbine'? Mine is long and heavy. Dale
They do balance well, easy to shoot offhand, even for an old geezer. PolecatYou’re right had it in my log book as a carbine. It was heavy but it shot good off hand.
I shot 70 grains of black powder with a .495 Lyman cast ball with a .015 patch at 50 yards I up it to 90 gains for a 100 yards. I never had to change sights. They do balance well, easy to shoot offhand, even for an old geezer. Polecat
I can’t wait to shoot it. I was going through my black powder stuff I sold my rifle years ago. The price tag was still on can it was marked $9.99.I love mine.
