My Jr. High Dau (Straight A's) is writing a report about the battle of Yorktown, Rev War. I have been trying to get her out to the range with me for the longest time with no luck. Long story short: I used her homework to get her to the range. I told her that her report would be better if she actual saw and smelled the Blackpowder going off. I don't have a PC weapon but at the least she can see the process of loading a M/L gun and the smoke it creates. Hopefully that will give her a better understanding of what it was like to fight in the period.

Hey now this isn’t a hobby anymore ”¦. It’s educational! Education important so I need to get more stuff for my child’s education!

Just be prepared to buy another rifle, you know what happens when someone is introduced to that white smoke. Addiction.

You definitely need to use this as an excuse to buy a Bess. It's the only way to show her the size of the hole the ball makes in the target.

After her report is finished, you then need to mention that a report on the War of 1812 would be worth a lot of extra credit.
That should be good for a new 1803 Rifle.

She would really be amiss in ignoring the Fur Trade and the Exploration of the Rocky Mountains.
That will get you a nice Hawken, and of course, the Civil War cannot be overlooked!
That should be worth a good Enfield (used by both sides) and maybe a Sharps paper cartridge rifle too.

Darn! I almost forgot the paper on the French & Indian War! I'm sure one of the 20 guage trade guns, either English or French would do nicely.

Boy, this educating sure is expensive, but a man does what he has too.

zonie :)
