we've convinced the local paper to list our club in the "activities' column..have gotten a few bites..had a guy tell me he shot in-lxnes and wondered if he could shoot 'em with us...told him 'no' but if he'd like to come to our next shoot, I'd provide him with a rifle and coaching, and he could see what traditional shooting was like. Just got back from the range, had a good turnout in spite of rain..my guest left me with, "OK, I'm buying a traditional gun and joining the club...this is a lot of fun"...worth the effort...it is good to save souls..Hank

We never tell someone "no". They convert to sidelocks quick enough anyway... more often than not jumping right from 209s to Rocks.

Telling someone "no" will just turn some people away.

An interesting idea...we'll still not accept those chaps with the strange rifles, but maybe we should hold a sighting-in, familiarization shoot a few days before M-L season for "all comers' including the Lost Souls...it'd be a way to find those misguided ones, and begin piqueing their interest...and, we can have the range re-sanctified aterwards...Hank

Just got home from our 1st. b.p. shoot of the year...had one new shooter with no rifle learn the ABC's, had two shooters with rifles learn to load/shoot and had one inliner who now wants a sidelock! Didn't have time to shoot myself, but it was worth it. p.s. and one I taught last year won the novelty event!

That's sounds really good John, and very unselfish on your part too...they'll probably never forget the experience

You only shoot when it's nice out? Wimp :blah:

We have a "y'all come" shoot the first Sunday of every month - Rain, Snow, Sun, whatever.

It's easier to convince inliners you don't "need" a closed ignition system to shoot in the rain when you shoot in the rain.
