Made me another hunting bag.

My third bag. My new muzzleloader turned out so nice that my hunting bag wasn't up to snuff. Spent about 10 hours yesterday making me a new one. 5 oz. leather and trimmed it all with lamb skin.....equals alot of time. 2" gusset tapered to one inch. I used the brand on the hide for the back pocket flap.

Great stuff! I'm a particular fan of "distressed" leather like on your back flap. I tend mostly to use Tandy's cheapest craftsman leather just because they caution that it has occasional flaws ranging from insect bites to brands and holes.

My all time favorite bag came from a side of leather with a brand very similar to our family brand growing up, so you can bet your bippy that I proudly centered it on the front flap of the bag. My brother took one look at it and wanted it bad, even if he's not a muzzleloader. He's got it hanging on the wall now.

Your bags, your tastes. My rule is do what pleases you, and you sure appear to be doing that. Excellent!

They are! Might be my old eyes, but it looks like you're doing a single-needle stitch rather than a 2-needle saddle stitch. There are pluses and minuses between the two, the biggest minus being if you ever break a thread with the single-needle method. Saddle stitch with two needles is a lot stronger. Can't take away from the great look you've got going though! :thumbsup:

FWIW, On my 1st bag (38 years ago), I applied some dk. brown leather stain to the exposed edges of the raw leather at the bag & pocket mouths.
