Well managed to harvest a small 7point buck on
the second day of Ohio's gun season. He was walking on a ridge about 30 yards in front of me.
I shot him with my Hawken .50 cal percussion with
PRB.(I know it was supposed to be my Lyman.50
GPR F/L. It was so wet the first couple days i
woosed out.)
Anyhow he dropped where he stood and then
rolled into a gully about 35 - 40 yards below.
After field dressing it took my son and I with a
little help from the grandson about 45 minutes
to get him out of the gully and we were still
1/4 mile from the truck. It was a long haul
but we made it mostly in the dark since the
shot was not taken till 5p.m.
After field dressing wheight was 140 pounds.
Was missing a brow tyne hence 7pt.
Had a great time especially the time spent
with son and grandson.
Son got a big doe the next day. Grandson will
be back today looking for his.He had to return
for school by Weds.
I still have two doe permits to use for the
M/L hunt at the end of Dec.
Hope i have not bored you too much
snake-eyes :) :)

Congratulations to both you and your Son snake-eyes! :hatsoff: Hope your Grandson scores to make it all balance out.

(PS: we'll cut you some slack on the caplock...I still can't bring myself to get rid of mine)

Congratulations Snake-Eyes! Where's the photos??
A hunt like that must be very special! I'll be hunting with my son today but to have a grandson as well would really make my season, even if I didn't get a deer. You must be VERY happy!

britches,
The grandson will do fine, trust me, he is 15 years old and harvested 4 deer since he was 11(1 six pt buck and 3 does) He is a very determined hunter although not always traditional.
As far as pictures are concerned my son mite have taken some i will check. The last time i took a camera to camp i never saw a thing, so my camera
stays home now. Thanks for the grats!
