My first attempt at making a hunting bag. It actually came out better than I thought it would. Made from 6 ounce distressed and oil tanned leather whcih gives it a really nice, aged look. Overall size is about 9" x 7" with what was a 2" gusset. By the time I finished, the gusset gives a little over an inch of extra room. Small inside pocket is about 4" x 5", plus the extra pocket on the outside. Lacing on the back for small game ties or whatever strikes the urge to get tied on for easy carry. Straps are currently 2" but will probably get narrowed to 1 1/2" before adding a patch knife. All hand stitched.

When my hands and fingers quit cussing me, I am going to do another one from the same leather but a little modified from this one...

simple and straight- forward - I like it! The ties are an especially nice touch ... gotta keep that in mind next time I build one.

 :hatsoff:

Great looking bag. Maybe try resizing your images for the web. They're over 2,000 pixels wide!

Very nicely done! With that as a first attempt, I'd say you have a bright future in the leather game. Your attention to design and detail speaks even louder than your fine craftsmanship.

I'll speculate you'll be making lots more bags out of that oiled leather. It's proven best for me, especially when there's airborne water.

It is easy to see why your hands and fingers are cussing you... That looks great! I really like the added bit in the back for the game/ carry straps.

W E L L :hmm: if you are going to make another one
You might as well send that one to me

Good job,,great workmanship

I wish my first shooting bag made in 1972 was that good. The game ties are an interesting feature. One thing for certain sure is you have the patience needed for leather work from the amount of hand stitching you did on this hunting bag!!
